IBTM Americas 2023: Experience Co-Creators and Event Professionals

Last September 13th and 14th, the most recent edition of IBTM Americas was held at Centro Citibanamex, our host since 2015.

During this show, 460 brands showcased their innovations at 154 stands, featuring a total of 1078 exhibitors and 520 buyers. Among them, 35% were from South America, while 20% represented United States and Canada. We also welcomed more than 3000 visitors, all of whom were event professionals and members of the meetings industry.

As a result, this edition facilitated 9,529 business meetings declared business meetings, bringing together companies, decision-makers, and event professionals from various industries.

Eleonora García, IBTM Americas’ director, emphasized that this year´s goals were exceeded by 23%, creating significant opportunities for suppliers from different destinations to enter the Mexican market.

Among the successes of this year, IBTM Americas managed to enhance the participation of over 70 national and international destinations. They shared their diverse infrastructure and offerings for incentive trips, congresses, and event organization. Additionally, more than 40 hotel chains with event venues and over 50 sector suppliers.

The conference program stood out for its impact on this edition, covering various topics related to innovations and trends in each of the following areas:

  • Event Design  Conference 

Event design and event organization are crucial aspects for meeting industry professionals. Topics such as leadership abilities, immersive experience creation, content generation, and disruptive recognition were covered, along with the use of AI and a high-profile event production workshop. Notable speakers included Oso Trava, an investor and advisor featured on Shark Tank 2023, and Jose Antonio Meade, an economist and lawyer, along with other high-level speakers presented by Allenamenti Speakers Bureau.

  • Romance congress organized by ABC Latin America

The romance industry is one of the most successful in our country, with Mexican destinations being considered among the most popular internationally. During the exhibition, various speakers discussed relevant topics for romance event professionals, including ambiance creation, the emotional impact of events, and the importance of sustainable weddings.

  • Sports congress organized by COMETUD

This congress covered a wide range of topics, from organizing a World Cup with three different destinations to boosting business in the sports industry. Prominent presenters included Alejandra Valencia Trujillo, an Olympic medalist and women's runner-up at the World Archery Championship.

  • Pharma Congress presented by ASPID Mexico and PCO Meetings Mexico

Pharmaceutical events have gone through an important transformation recently, because digitalization has brought these reunions in congresses to innovative tools such as artificial intelligence, social media, and Omni channel strategies: topics that were thoroughly analyzed during the event.   

  • Sustainable mindset talks originated by Colectivo Sustentable and the Sustainable & Social Tourisum Forum

Sustainability has become fundamental issue at the meetings industry, because the ongoing need of reducing and avoiding the negative impact of our actions on the environment increases day by day. this is the reason different conferences such as packaging recycling, combating climate change and the carbon footprint metrics were held throughout this year's exhibition.  

Simultaneously, many association from the meeting industries activities, including COMIR, MPI, SITE, MBTA, ABC LATAM, PCMA, AMDEMAC, AMPROFEC, AMAV CDMX, Destinations International,  ATR México, COCAL, and many others. This affirmed that IBTM Americas is an event that provides opportunities for everyone along the meetings industry supply chain, becoming a meeting point for the biggest community of professionals from this industry on a single place.

Also, IBTM Americas reassured its social commitment through the “Caps that transform” campaign, which asked the attendees to bring plastic caps from plastic bottles. These were collected and given to ES Eventos Sustentables and the “Recycling your city" program, with the intention to add up to the effort of supporting oncology treatments to children in Mexico City.

Together, IBTM Americas and ES Eventos Sustentables awarded Guanajuato and Panama as Change Makers, due to their sustainable initiatives as exhibitors in this 2023 edition, demonstrating that creativity is the number one factor to inspire everyday actions that can transform our world into something better.

Undoubtedly, IBTM Americas continues to hold its position as the best Tourism and Meetings Industry event in Latin America, offering the best products and services related to incentive trips, congresses, destination weddings, fairs, conventions and sports events worldwide.
