Sustainable products and job inclusion: strategic alliances for your event

One of the most important aspects when organizing an event is the level of customization. Sticking to the company’s branding brings quality and status to every space of the venue. Besides, all these details help communicate the level of commitment to the company’s values and the amount of attention towards the attendees, which is used as a reference for the attention towards the clients. That’s why drawing up an action plan and a detailed budget is very important.

One of the best ways to accomplish this is through sustainable products and those made by job inclusive companies. The first ones represent an inversion destined to the protection of resources; while the second one, having a story and an important meaning, become unique elements.

According to José Luis Pérez González, CEO of Cerrando el ciclo, it’s not complicated to find ways of improving your event’s impact on the environment. A lot of the products we use every day already have a sustainable alternative, so the only thing to do would be finding the best opportunities to incorporate them according to the industry and the type of event we want.

Throughout his participation on IBTM Americas , José Luis Pérez shared the panel “How to generate a sustainable network for your event?” with Daniela Ancira, co-founder and director of La Cana, and Mónica Guevara, co-founder, and director of Nu Cycles. All three of them agreed that recycled products are as useful as the ones normally used, but with a higher emotional impact on the attendees. This connects with job inclusive products as well, generating the perfect scenario for a more human and empathic event. The key to all of this is having alliances with small businesses and the entrepreneurs that create these products.

On that matter, Daniela Ancira emphasized the importance of choosing a cause that goes along with the company’s values. La Cana, for example, provides education and job opportunities for women that have recently finished a prison sentence. This opens very necessary conversations about social topics, generating positive results which impact goes further than one event.

Undoubtedly, there are many causes and products that your event can bring to the attendees’ and clients’ hands. One of the most famous examples of this opportunity are certain plush figures that belong to the generic pharmacy chain in Mexico, because even when they have generated controversial opinions, they’ve managed to raise awareness about inclusive jobs and sustainability. Each one of these plush toys are manufactured in CINIA, an inclusive company that hires people with disabilities. Besides, a lot of them are made of recycled PET plastic. They constantly appear in concerts and cultural events, creating interest around inclusion and a higher support for any companies that join the cause.

This way, sustainable products and job inclusive opportunities have not only allowed important conversations to take place, but they have also become a bridge for new alliances that could change the course of the industries and the economy in the future.
