Cooperative Recognition: Disruptive Actions with Positive Effects
Every event organizer and professional on this industry acknowledges the importance of social interaction for individuals, because it's part of the main reason this area is one of the most important for the economy in Mexico. But when we're talking about a whip of people that usually share they're working space, leaders, and sometimes even goals, it's not surprising to find out that sometimes every individual is going to need a moment of recognition for themselves.
Corporative recognition is usually a kind of incentive, which main goal is to generate positive sensations upon every collaborator, so they can associate that with their feeling of belonging to the company. This way, their wellbeing is going to increase, enhancing productivity and thereof, results. This is going to generate a domino effect, announcing the same features on the rest of the team, inspiring them to create a supportive and team like environment.
According to Fernando Ruiz, who presented the conference “Disruptive recognition”, last September 13th during IBTM Americas 2023, workers usually prefer positive corporate environment instead of better salaries. Also, according to his investigations, three out of every four collaborators consider their team as a corporate family, an essential part of the corporative experience. Besides, being part of said team enhances their loyalty, longevity and productivity.
Nonetheless, following the line Fernando Ruiz stablished, recognition by itself is not enough:
According to his presentation, personalizing the recognition is what makes it outstanding, because it communicates the importance of the job that's being made and the belonging of every single collaborator to the working family that's being created.
The result of this strategy is a very strong and genuine connection of the worker towards their team, as well as a huge motivation to keep pursuing their goals, individually and collectively.
The key to this strategy resides on getting to know general likings and needs of every individual working for the team in question, which will allow you to provide not only a personalized but also a useful recognition that really increases their feeling of belonging to the organization.
Even though it may seem hard to accomplish, especially if one or more members of the team are more introverted than others, taking a close look to their environment and their day-to-day activities is always very useful to find about some needs they may have on the corporate environment.
